Carlton County Federation Meeting - Monday, July 11th at 6:30 p.m.
Our local Federation needs you! The Federation exists to help guide the local 4-H program efforts. They are the overall governing body of the Carlton County 4-H program. They oversee all of the financials, make decisions on events and programming opportunities for our youth, develop guidelines, promote youth in learning and leadership exploration, and more!
Please encourage at least one (or more!) leader, teen or parent to represent your club/group at the meeting. The Federation officers must be present in order to vote and move programming forward. If you are not able to attend in person, consider joining via Zoom. Contact Katie for the link.
4-H at the Carlton County Fair!
Registration for the Carlton County Fair is has closed for this year. The Carlton County Fair will be held on August 18 - 21, 2022 with 4-H Static Judging on Tuesday, August 16th, 2022.
Mark your calendars for State Fair:
- Livestock Encampment: August 24 - 28, 2022
- General Encampment 3: September 1 - 3, 2022

Display Your Vegetable, Fruits, and Flowers for Fair !
Join us for a fair prep class on Monday, August 1st at 5:30 p.m. at the Carlton County Transportation Building! Learn from Carlton County Master Gardeners about how to display your vegetables, fruits, and flowers for success at the county fair. Information will be shared on the proper way to display your items to give 4-H members and their families confidence going into the county fair!

Apply to become a 2022-2023 Minnesota 4-H Agriculture Ambassador!
Are you interested in learning more about agriculture and networking with others from across Minnesota? Become a Minnesota 4-H Agriculture Ambassador!
From plants to livestock, this dedicated team of youth serve as positive advocates for agriculture and the Minnesota 4-H program.
This leadership opportunity is for youth in grades 10 and up who are passionate about agriculture and educating others. In addition to teaching, the 4-H Agriculture Ambassadors have the opportunity to investigate agriculture across their local communities and around Minnesota while being a role model to other 4-H members.
Applications will be accepted August 1-31 for the 2022-2023 4-H Agriculture Ambassadors.

Blue Ribbon Auction
What happens at the Blue Ribbon Auction?? The Blue Ribbon Auction participants are 4-H'ers who earned a blue ribbon on their livestock project in beef, sheep, swine, poultry, rabbits, dairy, and goats and auction bidders!
The auction bidders are local businesses who support the 4-H'ers by making a donation in the form of bidding. These monies are often used by 4-H'ers as they continue their livestock projects in the future.
Youth intending to participate will be responsible for inviting businesses and individuals to the auction to bid on their photo. Blue Ribbon Auction Bidder Contracts are due August 18th they should be turned in at the 4-H building by 4:00 pm!
NEW FOR THE BLUE RIBBON AUCTION !
We have removed the maximum bid and new this year: the 4-H member will receive 75% of the proceeds and 25% will go to the Carlton County Federation for Animal Science Programs !

Need Chaperones for State Fair!
Attention parents and adult volunteers! When was the last time you attended the Minnesota State Fair? Did you know that it is the second largest state fair in the nation? Would you like to experience this great gathering? If so, consider being a Carlton County 4-H chaperone!
Benefits of being a chaperone:
- Free entry pass.
- Free meal passes to eat at the 4-H building or livestock barns.
- A chance to see our wonderful 4-H’ers in action!
The state fair dormitory staff requires at least one male and one female chaperone for each encampment. Additional chaperones may be needed to meet the adult-to-youth ratio established by Minnesota 4-H and the Minnesota State Fair. To be a state fair chaperone, you must be a screened volunteer and sign up with Katie. Training will be provided.

Carlton County 4-H Committees
NE 4-H Livestock Show scheduled for Sept 17 & 18
The Northeast 4-H Livestock Show will be held in-person September 17-18 at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds, 2000 -13th St SE, Brainerd, MN. We hope to see you there!
All youth in grades 3 & up who receive a blue ribbon at the county fair in beef, dairy beef, goat, poultry, rabbit, sheep or swine who did NOT bring this animal to the State Fair are invited to attend. Showmanship, livestock judging, educational activities and award programs are planned for the show.
Saturday’s shows will include: Beef, Goat, Sheep.
Sunday’s shows will include: Poultry, Rabbit, Swine.
Livestock only need to be on grounds for the day of their show. However, in-barn penning/stalling is available and overnight penning/stalling is an option for families with members showing both days and for those staying overnight to enjoy Saturday’s activities. Local lodging & camping are available as well as meals on and off-site. Forms and information is available by calling the office or at the County Fair.
